Homemade Gujarati Dal Spice Mix | Dal Masala | Multipurpose Masala
Ingredients:
- 25 gms cumin seeds (jeera)
- 100 gms coriander seeds (dhania)
- 5 gms fenugreek seeds (methi)
- 4-5 black pepper (Kali mirch)
- 10-15 cloves (lavang)
- 1-2 cinnamon sticks (dalchini)
Instructions
Dry roast spices: Heat a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds, coriander seeds, fenugreek seeds, black peppercorns, cloves. Dry roast them for 3-4 minutes until they become fragrant, stirring constantly to avoid burning.
Cool down: When the spices have been roasted, transfer the roasted spices to a dry plate and let them cool completely.
Grind spices: After cooling, add the roasted spices to a grinder or spice mill. Grind them into a fine powder.
Store: Transfer the spice mix to an airtight jar and store in a fridge or a cool, dry place in your pantry. It should stay fresh for up to 6 months.
