Ingredients for Pav Bhaji Masala Recipe
- 6 one-inch pieces Multigrain pavs
- 1 tbsp Oil
- Butter for brushing teaspoons
- 2 medium Onions , finely chopped
- Salt to taste
- 1 tbsp Ginger-garlic paste
- 1 large Tomato, finely chopped
- 1 medium Green capsicum, finely chopped
- ½ cup Carrot, grated
- ½ cup Cauliflower, grated
- 2-3 medium Potatoes, boiled, peeled and mashed
- ¼ cup Frozen green peas
- 1½ tbsp Pav bhaji masala
- 1 Green chilli, finely chopped
- 1 tsp Red chilli paste
- 1 tsp Garam masala powder
- 2 tsp Lemon juice
- 1 tbsp Fresh coriander leaves, finely chopped
- ½ cup Mozzarella cheese grated
- 2 slices Cheese
Method
- Preheat the oven to 180º C.
- Heat oil and 2 tsp butter in a non-stick pan, add onions and sauté till translucent. Add a pinch of salt, mix and sauté till onions turn golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste, mix and sauté till the raw smells disappear. Add tomato, mix and cook till it turns pulpy. Add capsicum and carrot, mix and cook for 3-4 minutes. Add cauliflower, potatoes and frozen green peas, mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Add salt, pav bhaji masala, green chilli, red chilli paste and garam masala powder, mix well and sauté. Mash the mixture well, add lemon juice and coriander leaves and mix. Add little water and mash again.
- Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Place the set of pavs on a worktop and halve it horizontally. Place the base layer on the prepared tray and spread the bhaji all over it. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese all over and place the cheese slices over. Cover with the top layer of pavs, and brush the top with butter.
- Keep the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 4-5 minutes or till the cheese melts.
- Remove the tray from the oven, and place it on a serving wooden platter with the parchment paper. Pull apart individual pav from the whole set and serve hot.

We go from Pune to Mumbai sometimes just to have pavbhaji party 🙈 mumbai street food is famous for a reason and specially this masala paav bhaji from beaches. I would love to try this out at home for experiment so that we don’t need to go to Mumbai every-time we crave for pav bhaji 😜
