Breakfast, Snacks and Lunch For Navratri
During Navratri, we use vrat ingredients like buckwheat flour, water chestnut flour and rock salt to cook. For breakfast we have sabudana khichdi, kuttu dosa or fruit salad to start the day light and energized.
Snacks are roasted makhana, banana chips and aloo chaat all are yummy and filling. Lunch has sama rice khichdi, vrat wali curries and curd based preparations to make it a complete and satisfying meal.
Aloo Paneer Ka Kofta
My son had made this paneer kofta for the malai kofta gravy recipe. So half of this aloo paneer kofta went in the Malai kofta gravy for the family and the other half was consumed by me and my daughter for our fasting snacks.
In this recipe, the koftas are made with mashed potatoes, paneer, and spices. It can also be made during religious fasting (vrat) or for Navratri fasting.
Spicy Sabudana Khichdi
Navratri, Mahashivratri, and Ekadashi are Hindu fast days when this dish is traditionally made. This recipe is a Maharashtrian-style recipe for a perfect, non-sticky sabudana ki khichdi that I’ve been making for decades.
I have tweaked it a little to suit my taste and added tomatoes.
Singhara Atta Cheela
Singhara Atta is primarily preferred during the Navratri Vrat. This is because flour contains many health benefits such as proteins, calcium, and vitamins, making it an appropriate food to be consumed during fasting.
The batter is flavored with green chilli, coriander, vegetables, and the basic Indian spice.
Kuttu Ka Paratha
Kuttu ka paratha is made during the Navaratri fast or some other religious fast. According to fasting rules, only certain types of flour and ingredients may be consumed on fasting days.
Mashed potato is added to help bind the flour since buckwheat flour lacks gluten. Rotis are also easier to roll when potatoes are added.
Kuttu Ke Pakode
Kuttu ke pakode will regulate your blood pressure levels and will reduce the cholesterol fat in our body, thus preventing many heart diseases from occurring ultimately stopping stroke as well.
Packed with essential minerals and vitamins, kuttu ke pakode/vrat ki pakodi is beneficial in preventing cancer of the colon in particular.
Falahari Sabudana Thalipeeth
Falahari Thalipeeth is a healthy, hearty, and easy-to-make dish for the people who are fasting and the best part is that making it does not require lots of effort.
All you need is to go through the ingredients and then gather them all in order, set aside enough time for it to cook, and that’s it!
Kuttu Ki Poori
Crisp and tasty Kuttu Ki Poori Recipe | Vrat Ki Poori made with buckwheat flour for fasting or vrat is Gluten-free and vegan.
Buckwheat flour or kuttu ka atta is one of the flours consumed during fasting periods in North India. There are several ways of making kuttu ki poori. Kuttu ki poori is a perfect meal for vegetarians during fasting days.
