Ingredients for Salsa Dip

  • 500 grams ripe tomato
  • 1 large Green Pepper
  • 1 medium onion chopped fine
  • 5 big cloves of garlic minced
  • 1½ tsp dried oregano [BUY HERE]
  • 1 tsp chilli flakes [BUY HERE]
  • 1 tsp jalapeno peppers chopped fine (optional) [BUY HERE]
  • 2 tbsp olive oil [BUY HERE]
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp sugar (optional)
  • Oregano for garnishing.

Directions for Salsa Dip

  1. Pierce the pepper with a fork and hold it over the flame and roast it until blisters appear on the skin. Slice it in half and roast it cut side down.
  2. Wet a kitchen towel and wrap it in it.
  3. Peel the blistered skin and wipe with moist kitchen paper to remove all the black skin completely.
  4. Chop the peeled pepper finely.
  5. Take a saucepan heat oil in it and add the garlic and onion. Stir fry them for a couple of minutes.
  6. Now add the pepper and stir and then add the tomatoes.
  7. Cook for 10 minutes on low heat or till it comes to a saucy consistency.
  8. Now add dried oregano, chilli flakes, salt and sugar. Stir and add the jalapeno.
  9. Adjust the seasoning according to your taste.
  10. Store it. Glass containers with lids provide a good place to store the bottle.
  11. Before serving garnish with a few fresh oregano leaves.
