Ingredients

  • 1 cup frozen medium sized banana cut in slices
  • 1 cup low-fat yoghurt
  • ½ cup skimmed milk (you can also use coconut milk)
  • ½ -1 tsp sweetener (optional) (I prefer sugar free natura)
  • 1 tbsp nonfat dry milk powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract/essence
  • 3 ice cubes (about ¼ cup)
  • ½ packet Oreo Cream Biscuits (crushed)

Instructions

  1. Arrange banana slices in a single layer on a baking sheet, and freeze until firm (about 1 hour).
  2. Blend frozen banana, yoghurt, milk and sweetener in your blender and blend until smooth.
  3. Lastly, add in Oreos and blend for a few seconds until it is chopped and mixed through. (leave a few aside for garnishing)

  4. Pour mixture into glasses, and garnish with Oreo Cream Biscuits crumbles and serve.

Know Your Banana

Bananas are one of the most widely consumed fruits in the world for good reason. Eating them could help lower blood pressure and reduce the risks of cancer and asthma.

Bananas are rich in potassium and fibre and help prevent asthma, cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and digestive problems.

People who use beta blockers should not suddenly increase their intake of bananas without consulting their doctors.

Fresh bananas are available year-round. Unlike other fruits, the ripening process of bananas does not slow down after they are picked. Bananas should be stored at room temperature.

The warmer the temperature, the faster bananas will ripen. However, to slow ripening, it’s best that the bananas should be refrigerated. The outer peel of the banana will darken but the banana itself will stay intact longer.

Peel and freeze bananas for a great addition to any smoothie.

Add a sliced banana to your morning cereal or oatmeal for a more nutritious breakfast or just carry a banana with you on your way to work or school for a healthy and a portable snack.
