Food to Eat and Food To Be Avoided In Low-Carb Diet
If you are planning on following a low-carb diet, then you need to be mindful of the types of food that you eat.
There are certain typical foods that you should avoid altogether, and others that you should limit your intake of.
You should avoid these six food groups and nutrients in order of importance:
Sugar
In addition to soft drinks, fruit juices, agave syrup, candy, ice cream, and many other products, sugar is present.
Refined grains
Grains such as wheat, rice, barley, and rye are used to make bread, cereal, and pasta.
Trans Fats
Those oils that have been hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated.

Diet and Low-Fat Products
Sugar is often found in fat-reduced dairy products, cereals, and crackers.
Highly Processed Foods
Any food that looks factory-made shouldn’t be eaten.
Starchy Vegetables
You should limit starchy vegetables in your diet if you follow a very low-carb diet. Regardless of what the label says, it’s important to read the ingredient list.
Potatoes are another high-carb food. A small potato contains about 15 grams of carbohydrates, while a large potato can have up to 60 grams of carbs.
Bread
Bread is prepared from flour, which is a high-carbohydrate food. One slice of bread can contain up to 15 grams of carbohydrates.
Pasta
Pasta is also made from flour and can be just as high in carbs as bread. One cup of cooked pasta contains about 42 grams of carbohydrates.
Rice
Rice is a grain that is also high in carbohydrates. 1 cup cooked white rice contains about 45 grams of carbs.
Foods to Eat on a Low-Carb Diet

The basis of your diet should be real, unprocessed foods that are low in carbs.
Meat
Lamb, beef, pork, chicken, and others; grass-fed is best.
Fish
Salmon, trout, haddock, among others; go for wild-caught fish.
Eggs
The best eggs are omega-3-enriched or pasture-raised.
Vegetables
Lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and many others veggies.
Fruits
Fruits such as oranges, apples, pears, blueberries, and strawberries.
Nuts and Seeds
Almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds, etc.
High-Fat Dairy
Dairy products include cheese, butter, heavy cream, and yogurt.
Fats and Oils
Oils like olive oil, butter, coconut oil, lard, and fish oil.
If you’re trying to lose weight, watch out for cheese and nuts, since they’re easy to overeat. Have only one piece of fruit per day.
List Of Foods You May Want To Include

If you’re active, healthy, and don’t need to lose weight, you can consume a few more carbs.
Tubers
There are sweet potatoes, potatoes, etc.
Unrefined Grains
Some of the foods include brown rice, oats, and quinoa.
Legumes
Beans such as black beans, lentils, pinto beans, etc. (if you can tolerate them).
Additionally, you can have the following in moderation, if you wish:
Dark chocolate
Go for organic brands that contain at least 70% cocoa.
Wine
Choose dry wines without added sugar or carbohydrates.
The antioxidant content of dark chocolate may make it beneficial for your health in moderation. When you consume too much of either dark chocolate or alcohol, your progress will be hindered.
