4. Banana and Strawberry Smoothie

A smoothie that’s a little closer to your own, this recipe uses two safe fruits for our furry friends. Xylitol-free almond or coconut milk can be substituted for yogurt if your cat is allergic.
Ingredients:
- ¼ cup banana slices
- ¼ cup strawberry slices, without green tops
- 2 tbsp plain, unflavored yogurt
Directions:
- All the ingredients of the smoothie should be combined in a blender and blended until desired consistency is reached.
- A small amount of extra yogurt or an ice cube can be added if the concoction is too thick. Yogurt should be used less if it is too thin.
- Place in a bowl or dish, top with a strawberry slice, and serve to your hungry cat.
- If your cat doesn’t seem to be interested, try adding a ½ tsp of catnip to the mix.
5. Salmon and Catnip Smoothie
Your kitty deserves some special treatment on those special occasions! An ice cube tray is needed for this one, as well as some extra preparation!
Ingredients:
- 1 ice cube tray
- 1 tsp dried catnip, or a handful of fresh catnip
- 1 cup of hot water
- 2.5 oz or 5 tbsp of cooked unseasoned salmon
Directions:
- Catnip should be steeped for about five minutes in hot water. Fill ice cube trays with about eight ice cubes each. Freeze tray until solid in the freezer.
- Two catnip ice cubes should be added to the blender. Make sure to reserve a few chunks of salmon for topping the smoothie.
- Make sure you mix until the consistency you desire is reached. A second ice cube can be added if it is too thick. Add fewer ice cubes if it is too thin.
- Your impatient cat will love this cool fishy treat! Pour into a bowl or dish, top with salmon chunks, and serve!
- Put leftover catnip ice cubes in a plastic bag and freeze them for another smoothie. The ice cubes can be substituted for water in any recipe (each cube equals an eighth of a cup), or you can give your cat a cube to lick.
