Green Beans Sabji फ्रेंच बीन्स की सब्जी
Spiced and tasty beans and potato recipe is made with minimum ingredients and spices and yet taste very good.
It is a simple recipe that does not need much cooking time and minimum ingredients. It is cooked dry sans any gravy.
Though my mother cooks it better than me my daughter is gracious enough to compliment me when I make this dish.
A perfect dish if you want to serve good dry sabji with the least bit of effort.
Being hard pressed for time often I find this recipe easy to make and healthy to eat.
Green beans Sabji is a staple dish in every home in India.
You can chop the been finely, or slit them into 4-5 large pieces, or even slice them in a slant as done in South India.
As Green Beans are one of those vegetables that are available year-round in India, one just never gets tired of eating it.
I guess it’s made very often in all homes in as many variations as I can think of. Keep a watch as i’ll be posting many other variations of it in future too.

Ingredients
- 500 gm green beans
- 2 small potatoes
- 1 tsp Olive Oil
- Iodized Salt- as per taste
- 2 tsp Red Chili Powder
- 1 tsp Coriander Powder
- ½ tsp Turmeric Ground
- 1 tsp FoodAllTime Garam Masala (optional)

Instructions
- Separate the stems of the beans from both the ends. Now wash them under the fresh running water. Put in a strainer to strain excess water from it.
- Chop the beans and put it in a bowl. Peel the potatoes and wash them. Cut them into 6-7 pieces each.
- Now heat oil in a pan and temper the hing and jeera/cumin seeds into it.
- Once the jeera/cumin seeds start spluttering add aloo (potato).
- Add beans and sauté the beans and potatoes lightly.
- Add turmeric powder, coarsely ground coriander powder and red chilli on top of the chopped beans and potatoes. Roast for 2-3 minutes.
- Cover the pan and cook the recipe for 10 minutes on low flame. Open the lid after 10 minutes and stir the recipe. Add FoodAllTime Garam Masala. Check whether the potatoes have become soft or not. If not, then cook the recipe for another 6-7 minutes in covered pan.
- Transfer to a serving bowl. Potato beans recipe is ready.
- Garnish the recipe with coriander leaves and serve with naan, parantha and chapati.
