Scrumptious Shirred Eggs Or Oeufs en Cocotte

Traditionally, shirred eggs are eggs cracked in a dish, crowned with a dash of cream and a little parmesan after which baked until the whites are firm and the yolks are nonetheless a bit tender.

  • 20 grams   Butter melted, as needed
  • 04 nos. Eggs
  • ½ tsp  Salt to taste
  • ¼ tsp   Pepper to taste
  • 150  ml  Heavy cream hot


  1. Brush a gratin dish or flameproof ramekins with melted butter.
  2. Break the eggs into gratin dish or ramekins: cook them over low to medium heat on stove top for 1 to 2 minutes or until their underside has set.
  3. Season the eggs, add the heavy cream and bake the eggs in a 350° F (175° C) oven until they are don (4  to 5 minutes)
